Tulong Sulong

Last night, me and my office friends, Marian and Vine, volunteered for the telethon. We only got a few calls, though, most of which were inquiries on how and where to bring donations and volunteers. Pero meron din namang mga naghahanap ng kamag anak. And though we have a partial list, marami padin talaga ang hindi mahanap or walang balita kung ano na ang nangyari sa kanila. Even Google's Person Finder can't give us an answer on where and how these people are doing. Big thanks to it, though.

The country is facing one of its biggest calamity and it's not easy to get through it. Ngayon pa nga lang madami nang news on the good and bad sides, more particular on the slow government services. I have to say oo, nakakadisappoint naman talaga. But instead of bragging about the flaws of the system, why not spend your little time in helping others? Bragging and Ranting would not help at all. Given, mabagal at walang sistema, walang ginagawang paraan. But do we really have to tell it to the world? I mean, social media sites wouldn't help the victims of the super typhoon. In my own opinion, parang mas magagalit lang sila and instead of finding a way to survive, mas lalo lang silang gumigive up. Why not share information about information about people who are lost, have no contact with instead of videos questioning the president and the rest of the government system? Just for the netizens to know, it's not helping. It really does not.

Moreover, much as we'd like to offer a help, we did it in our own little way and we're glad to be rewarded by their thank you's and God Bless-es. And we know for a fact that the time spent was all worth it. Wala mang concrete na sagot kaming nabigay, alam namen with our 'don't lose hope po, tutulungan po namen kayo' nakatulong kame sa pagbibigay pag asa na may bukas na darating para sa lahat. We don't have much money to donate in cash, minsan parang mas masarap pang magdonate in kind para at least, mapapakinabangan na agad; and effort to make things a little lighter.

I've always wanted to do this. That's the very reason I took up Mass Communications, hindi nga lang ako nagiging field reporter pa. I'm sharing this to let the readers know we can do something. Even with this blogs that we write, we can do something. More than that, let's make our Social Networking Sites na mas kapakipakinabang. There's more that we can do than just posting unworthy status updates and pictures. Alam na namin na maganda or gwapo ka at mamahalin yang kung ano sa 'yo. Let everybody know you are a human being too and you have a heart for the victims. we do not necessarily need to volunteer for repacking or telethon. Just being sensitive enough is helpful.

And mostly, include everybody in our prayers.

Thank you is the greatest reward, I'm telling you. And being able to help in your most little way is noble.
